Changing Futures Celebrates Raising Over $70,000 During Inaugural 2026 Charity Bike Ride Benefitting Cystic Fibrosis Research
Changing Futures successfully hosted its inaugural Changing Futures Bike Ride on Saturday, July 18, bringing together cyclists, families, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters for a day of community, scenic cycling, and fundraising in support of cystic fibrosis (CF) research.
The event featured 15-, 30-, and 45-mile routes through the scenic North Shore, beginning and ending at Woodman’s of Essex. Throughout the day, participants of all cycling abilities joined together to raise awareness and critical funding for research led by Dr. Steven D. Freedman, MD, PhD, focused on the gastrointestinal complications and increased cancer risk associated with cystic fibrosis.
In total, 60+ active cyclists participated in the inaugural ride, helping raise over $70,000 and climbing, surpassing the organizations’ fundraising goal to advance research that aims to improve long-term health outcomes for people living with CF. The event welcomed over 200 attendees including riders, family members, friends, volunteers, and community supporters, who enjoyed live music, local food, and a 50/50 raffle following the ride.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better way to launch this event,” said Joel Steiner, co-founder of Changing Futures. “Seeing so many people come together to ride, volunteer, donate, and cheer one another on was incredibly meaningful. Every person who participated helped move our mission forward, and we’re grateful for the overwhelming support from our community, sponsors, and everyone who made this inaugural ride such a success.”
